The Religious Campaign for Wilderness

. . . dedicated to the teaching and recovery
of Jewish & Christian understanding of God's creation
as framework for holy wisdom

Christians and Jews have long understood the framework of creation in relation to wisdom. The scriptures, Jewish prophets, early Christians, the saints and protestant reformers are often eloquent about the ability of wild nature to provide deep and potent spiritual instruction. Unfortunately, this legacy is being lost. Our technology and hurried pace have separated us from nature to the point that most modern Jews and Christians have lost touch with how God expresses himself through creation.

Religious Campaign for Wilderness (RCW) seeks to help with reconnection to spiritual tradition of gaining spiritual instruction through creation. RCW weekend 'explorations' use periods of private prayer and reflection alternating with group process to produce a blend of low key instruction, personal experience, group discussion and sharing.

Our unique learning process facilitates sharing in personal discoveries of others, learning from each other's insights and experiences, and discerning lessons in creation more effectively. As we progress through the weekend, the centrality of God and the importance of the Scriptures is revealed. This method works regardless of background, educational level, religious affiliation or assumptions.

The Prophets often retreated to wilderness to hear the voice of God. When Jesus of Nazareth began His ministry, He didn't spend forty days in the synagogue; He went into the wilderness instead. Likewise, Jews and Christians in every century have found spiritual nurturing through wilderness and you can too. RCW is here to assist and serve in your quest for spiritual enlightenment through nature.
